This painting was
created using both direct painting and glazing techniques.
A palette knife was also used to build up texture on the base
layer. The colors are truly
vibrant and Alkyd paints do not become brittle with age (a
problem with traditional oil paints)
The pigments used in this painting include Indian Yellow,
Alizarin Crimson and Paynes Grey."
Traditionally
the Honu or Sea Turtle was a guardian for the ancient Hawaiian
family. Sea turtles are currently an endangered
species. Petroglyphs are a favorite subject of mine and I am
very pleased with the texture and vibrant colors in this piece.
