This Petroglyph is carved on natural slate and includes bamboo and
jute wall hanger. The design
is carved into the surface of the stone and darkened with
pigments.
The Pineapple was first
introduced into Hawaii in the early 1800's by Don Francisco de
Paula y Marin, the Spanish advisor to King Kamehameha I.
Commercial pineapple plantations were established in the late
19th century and ushered in the Plantation Era of Hawaiian
history. Pineapple fields still dot the Hawaiian landscape today
and remind us of Old Hawaii.
