HEIWA - (PEACE) #2
Original Stone Wall Sculpture by Maui Artist - Guy Junker

The Japanese calligraphy in this carving roughly translates to "Peace".  Heiwa consists of two characters "Hei" and "Wa".

"Hei" can translate to mean Even or Flat, while "Wa" expresses harmony. Together the characters represent the idea of even harmony or peace.

The back of the carving features a translation of the kanji characters and a short artist bio.  The piece is also signed and dated by the artist.  Each piece of stone is easily removable from the bamboo framework to make shipping and moving the piece around much easier.  It is hung on the wall with a gallery style picture frame hook (included).  The piece is very simple and easy to hang.

"Stone and Bamboo are wonderful to work with.  This particular stone is 'Golden Ray' Chinese quartzite and the bamboo is a very thick walled Vietnamese species.  Most people have never seen very thick walled bamboo like this.  Using this Vietnamese bamboo makes constructing frameworks much easier because of its strength and ability to hold a nail and screw while not splitting.  This allows me to be more creative with the shapes and layouts of my larger wall sculptures."
