THE FISHERMAN #5
Original Stone Carving by Guy Junker
12" tall x 6" wide
(including bamboo hanger)
Fishing was a crucial
part of ancient Hawaiian life. Fishermen used the moon to plan
their fishing expeditions and used rituals to ensure good
catches. Hawaiians made fishing line out of olona (a
native shrub) and hooks were made from shell or bone.
The back of the carving features a
history of the petroglyph and a short artist bio. The
piece is also signed and dated by the artist.
"The stone carving
is made from classic earth toned Chinese slate. It
has a very rustic feel with nice edge flaking."
